As the summer of 2013 rages on, the design-minded are already looking ahead to the sunny days of 2014. Miami Swim Week wrapped up this week, having shown a curated list of designer swimwear collections. The ranges included everything from standard swim staples to high-concept sunshine couture. A few stood out, as having that perfect balace of wearable, but style forward.
While I spotted several favorites (including the above), the true standout was Mara Hoffman’s collection of perfect prints, accessories, and ready to wear separates. The looks capture a modern, but playful and progressive take on global fusion fashion, which is very near the essence of the Mo Saique mission. Enjoy the full show view below!
Mo Saïque was honored to provide the footwear for Christie Brown‘s SS14 collection, during a recent runway show in Rome, Italy. The event was hosted by AltaRoma and the International Trade Centre – as part of the ITC’s Ethical Fashion Initiative.
This year’s presentation, dubbed Africa to Rome, also included Kiki Clothing, Stella Jean, and Portenier Roth. Each brand was chosen to participate for its commitment to ethical production and business practices, such as using hand-woven fabrics produced in communities groups from Burkina Faso and Mali through Ethical Fashion Initiative’s infrastructure. Well-known fashion partners of the initiative include Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, and Sass & Bide.
The show has already been met with rave reviews, including one from Elle Italia, which praised the Christie Brown show for it’s contemporary relevance and savvy use of geometry and contrast. Indeed the collection was the perfect mix of separates and easy-but-elegant dresses for the spring and summer seasons – though if the climate warrants it, these clothes can dazzle all year.
