The YSL resort 2o12 collection is breathtaking.  I am coveting the red trench coat which would be stunning with MO SAÏQUE Agatha peep toe shoes in red!  I’m saving up.

A tribute to master embroiderer François Lesage

Source: Interview with Francois Lesage, http://www.prestigium.com

“Our role is to be chameleons. With Karl, I am Karl. With Christian, I am Christian… We receive a sketch and it is up to us to interpret. The couturier is the architect, we are the decorators.” (Lesage, AFP)

The master embroiderer Francois Lesage, has died at age 82. Heir to a long artistic tradition in the service of luxury and of clothing distinction. His work has been hugely influential in the changing face of fashion during the 20th century. His name is associated with the most striking designers in high fashion: Madeleine Vionnet’s purity; the surrealist extravagance of Elsa Schiaparelli; the perfection of Balenciaga; and now the sophistication of Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.

Jean-François Lesage is descended from three generations of embroiderers and his father is the legendary haute couturebrodeur François Lesage. Rather than following in his father’s footsteps, embellishing extravagant gowns for Paris fashion houses, the young Lesage headed off to India in 1993 and set up his own workshop in Madras for embroidering home furnishings. RIP Loulou de la Falaise

The world of fashion loses another great icon in the sad passing of Loulou de la Falasie.  “The quintessential Rive Gauche haute bohémienne” as she was called by author Judith Thurman, writing in ’The New Yorker’ magazine* was better known as a muse and accessories designer for Yves Saint Laurent.

It is befitting that Mo Saique’s first blog post should pay tribute to this wonderful woman who gave so much to the fashion industry and inspired many to follow in her footsteps.

She was a model, a muse, and a designer of both clothing and jewelry. In many ways, Loulou de la Falaise was a fashion-industry renaissance woman, and it saddens us deeply to report that she has passed away.  Click here to read more at styleite.com.
