You may have thought that fashion month wrapped up in October, but if your style palette has a more global bend then you know catwalks around the world are still on fire with the latest collections from international designers. Last week, as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in South Africa, Africa Fashion International held it’s 5th annual award ceremony to honor the best in African fashion.
According to Bellanaija.com, the event included a musical performance from Vusi Nova and collection showcase from Nigerian designer Ituen Basi. Supermodel Alek Wek made an appearance, but was seen on the judging panel, rather than the runway.
Our friend and recent collaborator Anita Quansah was honored as Accessories Designer of the Year – an award well deserved for her stunning bespoke jewelry. Mo Saique recently showed a mini collection of shoes to accompany an range of neck and headpieces by the designer at Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2013.
For this season, decorative textiles and pure handicraft are in abundance.
