MO SAIQUE X Ethologie SS17

Ethologie SS17

In what seems like no time, Fashion Week is here again! London these days is filled with fashionable folks running from one show to the other, and we’re happy to be once again part of this amazing event. MO SAIQUE shoes have paired with the Ethologie’s SS17 collection, which was shown on September 18th in the fashion capital we call home. Our Kayla and Kaiserin shoes were present on the runway, as well as styles from older collections, such as Helen, Hero or Hakuun.

The Ethologie collection, designed by Jasper Garvida, was inspired by Henri Rousseau’s painting “Tiger in a Tropical Storm“, and especially the beauty of the landscape portrayed. The collection takes the mix of fragility and strength from this painting, translated through braids and stitches that are applied to silk like an armor.

See the whole collection on Vogue.

“Their roots go from Niger to South Africa, and they draw wildly creative, stylish and desirable fashion. Today they live in the capital of Great Britain. But why there?” This is the question that Elle France raises in an article in the May issue, London, the African Renewal. We’re pleased to have been involved and interviewed for the feature, which you can read in its entirety here.

It may seem like the world of fashion illustration is supra-saturated. But then you see Nicholle Kobi’s work at Niki’s Grove and you change your mind. The French-Congolese artist is based in Paris, and she started as a child. She thinks it’s easiest to draw people who look like herself, so she’s always been attracted to drawing black women and African fashion.

You can see more of Niki and her work on Instagram, and some of her illustrations are available as prints or printed objects on Etsy.

3 outfits that will make Christmas party dressing a breeze

Winter holidays are all about red, and we just happen to love red shoes. So we have no problem wearing our favourite red heels with all the glitter and aplomb that’s reserved for Christmas and New Year’s. Today, we’re sharing 3 outfit ideas that we hope will inspire you to up your shoe game and let yourself shine:

Office holiday party
For an office holiday party, we recommend sticking with the tried and true classics: little black dress, red pumps and beige coat. Of course, you should have a little fun with your accessories: try a watch and bracelets set and a pair of bigger earrings, and don’t forget your best friend: red lipstick.
Christmas party
For a fashionable, stylish Christmas party, create an outfit that mixes sex appeal with ingenuity. We love the contrast between the demure pussybow blouse and the hot ponyskin sandals! Add even more glamour with a golden skirt, giraffe bracelet, embellished clutch and always, tons of glitter.
Family Christmas
For a Christmas spent at home, with your family, always choose comfort! Think boyfriend jeans, ankle boots and an embellished sweater, and you’ll get a chic outfit that you can still eat and relax in.
Happy holiday dressing!

W Magazine Autumn Editorial

Emma Summerton for W Magazine | MO SAIQUE

It’s official: autumn is here and it looks beautiful! This W Magazine editorial was photographed by Emma Summerton and it showcases the best of the new season’s styles. You’ll notice all the greats – Dolce&Gabbana, Burberry, Valentino, Prada, Louis Vuitton etc. – all with a deep 1970s influence. And that’s an influence we don’t mind – after all, we’re very much into mules! Other footwear choices for the new season include pilgrim shoes, furry heels, high gladiators, patent leather and velvet.

And needless to say, we love the gorgoues models in this editorial: Aya Jones, Tami Williams, Ajak Deng, Binx Walton, Anais Mali and Amilna Estevão.

Nubian Skin, A Different Kind of Nude

Nubian Skin Lingerie | MO SAIQUE

We’ve recently discovered this amazing new brand of lingerie, and are super excited to share it with you! “A nude bra and skin tone hosiery are the basics of every woman’s wardrobe, at least in theory.  For many women of colour, finding suitable skin-tone hosiery and lingerie has not been an option.  Frustrated by the lack of skin-tone choices to go with her ever-expanding wardrobe, Nubian Skin founder, Ade Hassan, decided it was time for ‘a different kind of nude’. ” The London-based brand launched a carefully curated line of lingerie and hosiery, to suit every shade of nude. We love the selection of basic and lace bras as well as the different types of panties that are flattering on any silhouette. Nubian Skin is a real celebration of the female body in all its diversity.
